EFCC Arrests Duo For Reporting False Information

The Commission for Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 accused Buhari Fannami and Ba-Kura Abdullahi in two separate charges of a charge before Judge M. T Salihu of the Federal Supreme Court Maiduguri for allegedly giving false information to the agency under the policy of denunciation. Fannamit had cheated the EFCC with information about the money acquired illegally allegedly buried in the residence of a Ba'a Lawan, but the information turned out to be false after the execution of a search warrant.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Prosecuting attorney Alkassim Ja'afar requested a trial date and asked the court to refer the defendant to custody. Judge Salihu adjourned the matter on June 7 and 8, 2017 for hearing and ordered the accused to be remanded in custody.
For his part, Ba-Kura Abdullahi also gave false information in the sense that large sums of money in Naira and foreign currencies were buried in the Ba'a Lawan residence. Judge Salihu adjourned his case on June 7 and 8, 2017, for the start of the trial and ordered the accused to be remanded in custody.
