Former Acting PDP President in Bayelsa, Christopher Hobobo Assassinated

A former interim president of the People's Democratic Party, Bayelsa State, Mr. Christopher Hobobo, was assassinated.

He was reportedly assassinated in his residence on PDP Road, Yenagoa, the state capital.

Hobobo, who came from the town of Agbere in the Sagbama state, was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assassins in the early hours of Wednesday.

The murder of Hobobo comes in a month after a similar assassination of a Yenagoa-based broadcast journalist, Mr. Famous Giobaro.

Hobobo's grid was forced by the assailants before they had access to his living room, where they were stabbed several times in the trunk.

It was learned that his killers refrain from using the weapon to kill the former PDP interim president in order not to attract the attention of his neighbors.

It was also reported that after the incident, family relations and friends, who crowded into the house as early as 7 am, invited the police.

A team of policemen led by Divisional Police Officer Ekeki Division reportedly suppressed the corpse of the deceased in the midst of wailing sympathizers and neighbors.

Two members of the family, Mr. Desi Tambrebofa and Mr. John Gidi, expressed their shock at how Hobobo was brutally murdered.

They described the deceased as a quiet man, saying that the assassins had murdered sleep.

State police commissioner Amba Asuquo, who had visited the scene of the crime, assured family members that the police would jump the perpetrators of the crime.

The remains of the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa
