Nigerian Customs Service Destroys Packaged Poultry Products Worth N14M

The Nigerian Customs Service on Sunday in Benin destroyed imported poultry products worth N14 million.
The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that poultry products were packaged in 2,750 boxes and transported by a Dangote truck with the registration number XC 449 GML when it was seized.
NAN also reports that the shipment was intercepted by the Comptroller General of Customs compliance team headed by the officer in charge of zone "C", Deputy Comptroller Musa Oseni on Friday.

Overseeing the destruction, Comptroller General of Customs, Ahmed Azarema, national coordinator of the Comptroller's compliance team, said the exercise was in line with the Federal Government's directive on banning the importation of poultry products.
Azarema said the directive should be implemented and urged everyone to educate members of the public to do business lawfully and not smuggling.
The National Coordinator also inspected three seized trucks containing 640 bags of foreign rice, 1,147 boxes of unauthorized and untested drugs, and three cars and spare parts for automobiles.
He discovered that the trucks were seized on May 17, 5 and 3, adding that items would be auctioned in accordance with the law in the shortest possible time.
