Popular hip-hop musician, Eedris Abdulkareem, has been arrested by the police for allegedly beating his landlord, Oladipo Abimbola.

Abdulkareem was said to have been reported at Area F Police Command in Lagos State.

He was subsequently arrested.

According to available information, Abimbola, who owns the property at Valley View Estate in the Ikeja area, accused the hip-hop star of fraud, harassment, and intimidation.

The confrontation that led to the arrest was said to have occurred on January 3, 2020, after the landlord instructed officials of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company to disconnect Abdulkareem from power source due to overdue and unpaid accumulated electricity bills amounting to N535,000

The artist was said to have stormed Abimbola’s compound over the issue.

The landlord said he was unaware that Abdulkareem was to be his tenant when he rented out the flat.

According to him, Abdulkareem’s wife rented his apartment on behalf of her husband.

He also stated that Abdulkareem is an antisocial and dangerous person who constantly owes him rent and would stop at nothing to carry out his threat of assault.

Although Abdulkareem was said to have admitted having warned his landlord, his counter-accusation was that Abimbola sexually harassed his wife in his absence and refused to respect their privacy by wantonly encroaching on their side of the compound without permission.

He claimed that his landlord has once been arrested for a previous case of sexual harassment against another (female) tenant.

The matter is still with the police.
