
The deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has reportedly been arrested and banished to a community in Nasarawa State. The Nation reports that shortly after his dethronement was announced, security operatives arrested Sanusi and whisked him out of the ancient city amidst tight security.
It was gathered that the security operatives are heading to Nassarawa state where he will spend the rest of his life in asylum.

The security agents have reportedly sealed off the palace.
Mujtaba Abba, the principal private secretary to the deposed emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has resigned from his position in Kano Emirate.
The Kano Emirate official who is Sanusi's half brother, voluntarily relinquished his traditional title of ‘Falakin Kano’ in a letter addressed to the secretary of the Kano emirate council and the councillor, finance.
Though Abba did not reveal why he took the decision of resigning from his position, he however expressed his sincere gratitude to the emirate council for offering him an opportunity to serve.
The letter reads in part;
“I write formally to inform you that from Monday March 9th, 2020, I have voluntarily resigned my position from principal private secretary of Sarkin Kano Muhammad Sanusi ll. In addition I have also voluntarily relinquished the title of Falakin Kano.
“I hereby wish to express my sincere gratitude to the emirate council for offering me opportunity to serve and I also thank the entire staff of the emirate council for the cooperation they rendered to me during the period of my service. Please accept the assurance of my esteemed regards always.”
