
President Buhari has approved the declaration of November 1st of every year as the National Youth Day in Nigeria.
This was disclosed by Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare. According to the minister, the President made this known during a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

The minister also applauded the President for his commitment to the Nigerian youth with regard to policy formulation and the exploration of viable solutions to the problems facing Nigerian youths.

International Youth Day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. The first IYD was observed on 12 August, 2000

“Today, President Buhari in Council approved November 1st every year as the National Youth Day to celebrate, draw attention to and find solutions to the issues that affect the Youth. Mr. President as again demonstrated his commitment to supporting youth-focused policies. Thank You.”The meeting, which started at about 10am, had in attendance Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
