Policemen fired teargas canisters to disperse hundreds of Nigerians in Abuja calling for an end to Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the country.

The protesters had earlier requested to see the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu vowing not leave the premises of building until the IGP addressed them.

They had vowed to spend the night there, refusing to listen to the plea of the officers who addressed them. The protesters had brought foods and drinks in preparation for the overnight activity.

However armed policemen stationed within the building fired teargas at them around 6:20pm and disrupted the peaceful protest.
